Car Accidents EVERYWHERE
Cars don’t scare me. Cars to me are like guns; they don’t cause the accidents, the people controlling them do. That having been said, people scare me.
The first week I was in the states I was with Uncle Chris (UC) and we watched one car NAIL another. It seemed like Red Car thought they could u-turn before White Car would reach them. Either that or they didn’t see each other. Being the nice paramedic he is, UC pulled over and helped. Red Car had a 60 (ish) year old man driving who seemed to be the only one hurt, so he was making sure he could talk and wouldn’t move while I was on 911 duty.
Have you ever called 911 in the middle of an intersection with car alarms and horns going off? It’s really difficult… I couldn’t hear anything she was saying, so I went
“Ma’am, I can’t hear the questions you’re asking. I’m going to just shout information to you, and by the time I’m done if you need anything else then shout it back.”
So I keep repeating our intersection, my name and phone number, and the state each person involved was in. I felt bad because I think she was asking for other stuff, but there was no hearing what she was saying.
The police and paramedics came, but because we witnessed it we had to stay. For half an hour. It really doesn’t make you want to help others like this when it means that the plans you had that night are going to be ruined because it takes so long to give a statement.
The whole time I was in Florida I was traveling on I-95 and 595 almost every day to visit my friend Kelly. One night she decided to come down to visit me instead. Good thing, considering 595 got shut down because someone tried to cross the highway (walking) and got run over.
So can we all pinky promise to not walk across highways or make risky u-turns in the future? Please?
